Directors: Daniel Switzer and Angie Fisher will be leading our second online camp! We are excited to be welcoming them both back after working with them on our Newsies and Frozen camps! Daniel Switzer made his Broadway debut last year in Mean Girls. His credits also include National Tour of Frozen, Newsies, Wicked and Cats. Daniel is excited to be back teaching with Artstarts. Angie Fisher's credits include National Tour of Million Dollar Quartet, The Barter Players, McLeod Summer Playhouse and others. She is a singer-songwriter and musician. Angie, an Artstarts Alumni and four year Artstarts college scholarship recipient, is thrilled to be back teaching at Artstarts with Daniel as they performed together many summers ago at McLeod Summer Playhouse.
Camp Schedule and Age Groups:
Camp will meet twice a week, once on Tuesdays and once on Thursdays for 45 minute sessions. Juniors (Ages 6-11) will meet at 4 p.m. Teens (Ages 12-18) will meet at 5 p.m.
Week 1 - Tues. Jan. 12 and Thurs. Jan. 14
Week 2 - Tues. Jan. 19 and Thurs. Jan. 21
Week 3 - Tues. Jan. 26 and Thurs. Jan. 28
Week 4 - Tues. Feb. 2 and Thurs. Feb. 4
Week 5 - Tues. Feb. 9 and Thurs. Feb. 11
Week 6 - Tues. Feb 16 and Thurs. Feb. 18
Week 7 - Tues. Feb. 23 and Thurs. Feb. 25
Week 8 - Tues. Mar. 2 and Thurs. Mar. 4
Students will get creative and reconnect with peers in classes that will build up to a final Virtual Video Performance! (To be included in the final Virtual Video Performance students can only miss up to two camp sessions.) The Virtual Performance will be filmed and presented during the last week of camp.
Policies:
No photography or videoing class participants for privacy purposes. Respect normal theater etiquette as well as new virtual etiquette!
Assignments:
There will be a small amount of outside homework for students. Teens will have writing assignments that will go along with each week's topic. Juniors will be assigned simple assignments like watching a movie or practicing at home. A schedule of planned deadlines will be sent out at the beginning of the course. For the first assignment, we are asking each student to watch a SEQUEL movie such as "Frozen 2". Come prepared to share with the class which character was your favorite and why.
Requirements:
You will connect to our camp online using a computer or smart phone or IPad. Requirements are minimal but a room to move in and the ability to create some privacy will be important to create our classroom space. We will be moving and dancing. Large spaces are not needed, just some room to groove! Bring a smile and a desire to participate! This will be very fun!
Pricing:
$200 per student $125 for Artstarts students
If you have participated in Artstarts in the past, please indicate at least one show or camp that you have participated in on the registration form to be eligible for the Artstarts' community pricing. These classes will have limited spacing of 33 participants per class, and will fill up quickly. Registration fees are non-refundable.
