Please Help Us Recover Our Stolen Tools

Picture
For 18 years, Artstarts' goal has been to connect the community through the arts. Maybe you have attended one of Artstarts' many productions over the past 18 years. Maybe you have had children in one or more of our shows, or maybe you were even an "Artstarts Kid" yourself. If any of these are true, then you have likely seen the magic created by our set team. All of these sets require a dedicated team of volunteers who put in countless hours of hard work. The creation of these sets also requires tools, and this is why we are reaching out to you, our community.

It came to our attention this week, that our set building was accessed  by an unknown person or persons and a large majority of our power tools, tool batteries, battery chargers, hand tools, saw blades, drill bits, and miscellaneous items were stolen, as was the large, forced-air kerosene heater used to keep the set building warm during the winter. This is approximately a $2,000.00 loss for Artstarts. Many of these items were acquired over the course of the past 18 years using carefully-budgeted financial donations provided by our sponsors, patrons, and supporters. Some of these items were also purchased and generously donated by a number of our volunteer set builders. All of these items were essential in creating the beautiful sets in our shows.

This is where you come in. If you saw any suspicious activity around the Artstarts House located on 104 S. Van Buren Street in Marion, IL, likely between May 5 and May 31, particularly if you witnessed items being taken from our large pole barn building, would you please contact us? Also, I am including a list of the stolen items. Many of the power tools and tool batteries are inscribed with an "A" or "Artstarts". If you happen to see these items in a pawn shop, listed for sale online, etc. again, would you please let us or the Marion Police Department know? We know this is likely a long shot, but we hope someone somewhere knows something about the many items taken from our property. Thank you for your help, for your continued support of Artstarts in this community.
