• What if the actor only wants to be in the ensemble? Do they still need to
audition?
o No, if an actor wants to be in the ensemble and not considered for any roles,
they do not have to audition. However, auditioning is a great experience and
we encourage everyone to audition!
o Everyone, including the ensemble, will be required to fill out a registration
form prior to the audition dates.
• What if the actor only wants to be considered for a featured dancer?
o If the actor is only interested in being considered for a featured dancer, they
do not have to audition; however, anyone who is interested in being a
featured dancer will be required to attend the dance callback on Thursday,
January 13th at 6:00pm at the Artstarts House.
• What are “callbacks” and when are they?
o Callbacks are after regular auditions when the casting directors will ask for
certain actors to come back to dance/sing/act for specific characters.
o A “callback” list will be posted online after all auditions are completed on
Tuesday, January 11th.
o Callbacks will begin at 6pm on Thursday, January 13th at the Artstarts House.
o If an actor has a conflict with the callback times, they will need to contact the
stage manager, Hillary Hines-Holl, to arrange an alternative time.
• My actor did not receive a callback, are they still a part of the cast?
o Yes! Artstarts does not “cut” or exclude students from shows. All students
who want to be a part of the production are placed in the cast. If your actor
did not receive a call back, it simply means the casting panel did not require to
see anything additional from them.
• My actor did not receive a callback, can they still audition to be a featured
dancer?
o Yes! Even if an actor does not receive a call back, if they would like to be
considered for a feature dancer role, they must attend the dance call on
Thursday, August 19th to be considered.
